TENT AND CANOPY INSPECTION CHECK LIST
Extinguishers
- An Extinguisher with a 40-B C & "K" rating is present for booths used for any type of cooking.
- Fire extinguishers are required to be serviced and tagged by a certified contractor from the State Fire Marshals office.
Temporary Membrane Structures, Tents and Canopies
- The Concession stand utilized for cooking shall have a minimum of 10 feet of clearance on all sides and shall not be located within 10 feet of amusement rides or device.
- The sidewalls, drops and tops of temporary membrane structures, tents and canopies shall be composed of flame-resistant material or treated with a flame retardant in an approved manner.
- Temporary membrane structure, tents or canopies shall have a permanently affixed label bearing the following information:

Identification of the size and fabric or material type.

The date it was last treated with an approved flame retardant.

The trade name and type of flame retardant utilized in the flame-retardant treatment.

The name of the person and/or firm that applied the flame retardant.

Treatment to render materials flame resistant shall be renewed as often as necessary to maintain the materials flame resistance.
Propane
- The LP-gas containers shall be located outside. The safety release valves are to be pointed away from the temporary membrane structure, tent or canopy.
- Portable LP-gas containers, piping, valves and fittings which are located outside and are being used to fuel equipment inside a temporary membrane structure, tent or canopy shall be adequately protected to prevent tampering, damage by vehicles or other hazards and shall be located in an approved location.
Extension Cords
- Extension cords can only be used for one portable appliance.
- Extension cords are to be plugged directly into an approved receptacle, power tap or multi-plug adapter.
- The amps of the extension cords shall not be less than the rated capacity of the portable appliance supplied by the cord.
- The extension cord shall be in good condition without splices, deterioration or damage.
- Extension or flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures; nor shall it extend through the walls, ceiling, floors, under doors or floor coverings;
- Extension cords shall not be subject to environmental or physical damage.
