Sesquicentennial Celebration

Sesquicentennial Celebration

The City of Logan was incorporated 150 years ago, on January 17, 1866. In honor of this momentous occasion the City’s Sesquicentennial Committee has planned a series of events. We’d like to invite the community to join us on "a trail through time" as we celebrate our history and culture.

Sesquicentennial Poem by Poet Laureate Star Coulbrooke

Star Coulbrooke, Poet Laureate of Logan City, has conducted 28 poetry events since her inauguration on May 19, 2015. She teaches poetry writing and directs the Writing Center at Utah State University, coordinates the twice-monthly Helicon West Reading Series at the Logan Library and leads a weekly poetry writing group. She has taught poetry workshops for victims of violence, river activists, and elementary school children, also for organizations such as the League of Utah Writers, the Utah State Poetry Society, and the National Federation of the Blind. Her work is published in dozens of literary journals and anthologies across the nation. Her book, Walking the Bear, published by Outlaw Artists Press, is available digitally through the University of Utah Library. To book an event, purchase other chapbooks, or request an interview, contact star.coulbrooke@usu.edu.
